Haiti - FLASH : Inauguration and installation of CEP members

The Communications Office of the Presidency informed us, that this Friday, January 23, 2015, from 10h00 p.m., will take place the inauguration and Installation ceremonies of members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), at the Court of Cassation first and at the offices of Electoral Council in Petionville then.

These members are :

  • Ricardo Augustin : Episcopal Conference

  • Vijonet Demero : Reformed Worship

  • Yolette Mengual : Woman sector

  • Jaccéus Joseph : Human Rights sector

  • Lucie Marie Carmelle Paul Austin : University sector

  • Pierre Manigat Jr : Press sector

  • Lourdes Edith Joseph : Unions sector

  • Néhémie Joseph : Sector Peasant/Voodoo

  • Pierre-Louis Opont : Employer sector

Note that these ceremonies was originally scheduled for Thursday, but due to challenges in 3 of the 9 sectors on the choice of their representative (sectors : women, union and reformed worship), they were postponed to a later date following "technical issues beyond the control of the Government and the CEP," according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice.

Thursday after a high-level meeting at the National Palace between the Head of the State and the sectors concerned, it was agreed to proceed with the investiture and installation of advisers without any change this Friday.
