Haiti - Reconstruction : Brand new police station in Cerca Carvajal
The recent inauguration of the new police station of the commune of Cerca Carvajal (30,000 inhabitants), located 30 kilometers of Hinche (Central Plateau), put an end for the police to 20 years of operation in a small room more like a warehouse than a police station... "Now we have a building that meets the standards of human rights, not only for officers who will be affected, but also for those who will violate the law," said René Raphael, mayor of the town

The police station of Cerca-Carvajal is the fifth building constructed or rehabilitated in support to the PNH, in the Centre department, by the Minustah who funded the building to the tune of 57,000 US dollars. The police station includes: a reception room, an office for police officers, two separate custody rooms for men and women, a dormitory, three showers and toilets. Furthermore workspace was built specifically to host specialized police officers against violence based on gender.

A second amount of US $ 6,000 was used for the development of the space in equipment and various furniture.

Recall that between 2004 and 2014, the Minustah has invested in the context of quick impact projects (QIPS), more than 510,000 dollars in the construction and / or rehabilitation of public infrastructure with a vocation of security, of public order, oriented towards the development of the rule of law in the Central Department.
