Haiti - Security : Seizure of goods from Haiti
Dominican military and customs authorities seized a shipment of various products from Haiti irregularly entered, during a control operation in Bani (south of the Dominican Republic to an hour drive from Santo Domingo), which led to the arrest of five people, said the military authorities.

The operation was conducted by the Ministry of Defence through the Joint Intelligence Directorate (J-2), in coordination with the Directorate General of Customs (DGA) Dominican.

The goods, which belong to a group of 35 Haitian merchants were transported in a truck driven James Medina Mendez, who was arrested in the town of Bani by members of the J-2.

According to authorities, the cargo manifest indicated the transport 54.006 hygiene kits, but it was found the actual number was 109.919. In addition, after inspection it has proved that the cargo also included: 1,492 boxes of different toiletries, haitian cigarettes "Comme il Faut", bags of rice, dairy products, bundles of clothes among others...

Furthermore, in addition to these goods, the truck carrying illegally, 4 undocumented Haitians who were also arrested.
