![]() Haiti - Politic : National Commission for the modernization of public transit 15/02/2015 10:42:08
The Head of State called for a mobilization in favor of the transport sector in Haiti. While recognizing that public transit is evolving in a situation of lack of standards and regulations, the President Martelly called for the creation of a regulatory and incentive framework to arrive at an effective improvement of transport conditions in Haiti. "By creating this Commission, we want to allow the actors to sustainably improve the public transportation system. A major economic sector for the country. When the transport sector works well, the country breathes, declared President Martelly. "The modernization of the transport is at the heart of economic and social development strategies of our country," stressed the Head of State that recalled that the Commission whose term of office is 12 months, will also "propose to the Government recommendations to underfunding problems and access to credit, and determine the best strategy to adjust the prices of gasoline, diesel and kerosene on the national market, taking into account international data and the reality [economic of Haiti]." Through the incentive measures proposed by the Commission, the Government intends among other support efforts allowing better conditions of accessibility and mobility of people and goods in the territory.
