Haiti - Geology : Gold in Grand Bois 01/10/2010 13:33:48
All holes drilled within and around the perimeter of the historic resource area generally confirm the grade and thickness of the shallow gold zone as defined by historic drilling. Ten of these holes were located as "twins" to historic drill holes (on average the twinned holes were positioned within 2.5 meters of the locations of the historic holes). Of note, three drill holes were drilled outside of the historic resource area, and between them returned grades and thicknesses averaging 1.05 g/t gold and 32.3 meters, respectively. The drill hole samples were collected in accordance with accepted industry standards and procedures. The samples were submitted to the ACME Labs (ISO 9001:2000 accredited) in Santiago, Chile for analysis. This geologic environment hosts numerous gold and copper occurrences in Haiti, as well as the Pueblo Viejo deposit in the adjacent Dominican Republic. Pueblo Viejo has 215 million tons of proven and probable reserves containing 20.4 million ounces of gold, 117.3 million ounces of silver, and 423.5 million pounds of copper as of year-end 2007 reporting (www.barrick.com). However, even though Haiti's mineral potential is similar to that found in the Dominican Republic, it has remained under-explored.
