Haiti - Diplomacy : Meeting on the incidents in the Dominican Republic
Friday, Duly Brutus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rothchild Francois Jr, spokesman of the Government and representatives of the Haitian missions in the Dominican Republic have provided an update on the problems and tensions in the Dominican Republic.

At the beginning of the meeting, Chancellor Brutus asked for a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the accident Carnival and Jean Claude Jean Harry, a Haitian compatriot murdered and hanged in Santiago de Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, crime condemned in the strongest terms by Prime Minister Paul.

The Chancellor recalled that after the murder of Santiago, he quickly convened the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Haiti Ruben Silie Valdez https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13180-haiti-diplomacy-the-chancellery-convenes-the-dominican-ambassador.html

"For us, this crime is unacceptable and we wish the faster than light be shed [...] we found according to reports that were presented to us by several representatives, that there is a anti-Haitian rise in the Dominican Republic as we know there are sectors that have benefited to burn the Haitian flag, we condemn this act and above all we ask the Dominican government to react, because we believe that it is extremely important that the latter is heard on all of these events."

Recalling that on Wednesday, following a working meeting "we have decided to ask the Dominican Government, in a letter addressed to Foreign Minister [...] to strengthen security around the Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic , to ensure the safety of all Haitian diplomatic staff, whether is in Santo Domingo and in the various provincial cities and also we ask that they respect the fundamental rights of every Haitian [...] "

Adding "There is no solution to the Haitian problem, if there is no economic development," noting that in the North-East of Haiti "we have 38,000 ha of land available, ready for Agricultural Development to combat the rural exodus."
