Haiti - Health : «Global Health and training, Haitian challenges»
Earlier this week, Port-au-Prince hosted this year the Charles Mérieux V Conference, attended by several leaders of medical schools, nursing schools, medical technology schools, national and international partners, the Dr. Florence Duperval Guillaume, the Minister of Health and executives of her Ministry.

The conference, held under the theme "Global Health and training, Haitian challenges" was part of the framework of the action plan of the Ministry of Health, which aims, among other things, to strengthen health services in Haiti, through the perpetuation of existing trade, the creation of new trade, the adaptation of training capacity of health institutions to the needs of the market.

How to produce the human resources needed in Haiti for the National Health program can thrive, so that Haitians can have better care, such was the essential objective of this conference conducted under the leadership of the GHESKIO centers and the Charles Mérieux Foundation.

According to the Minister Guillaume this Conference made it possible to "[...] discuss the problems inherent in the reform of the health system in Haiti," and stressed that "the health and education lead to development because even within the education, the training aspect is crucial to achieve global health."

Dr. Jean William Pape, President of the GHESKIO centers, thanked the Fondation Mérieux for its unselfish support into the implementation of many projects whose the establishment of a high level of security laboratory. He mentions several innovative programs that contribute to strengthening the capacity of health professionals through the public health master's program, the BAMS program (Bachelor in Medical Biology Applied) and that of the multi-purpose community health workers.

Recall that the Charles Mérieux Foundation, initiated in 2007 this type of conference, which brings together international training actors in the health field, to share and develop innovative and replicable projects for developing countries.
