Haiti - Reconstruction : Inauguration of the Place Sainte-Anne

Friday, President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Evans Paul, in the presence of members of the Cabinet of ministerial cabinet, of Pierre Richard Duplan, the Interim Executive Agent of Port-au-Prince, of Harry Adam, Director General of the Construction Unit and Housing and Public Buildings (ULCPB), of Sandra Honoré, Special Representative of the United Nations and Head of the Minustah, religious authorities and personalities of the Civil Society, proceeded at the official inauguration of the Place Sainte-Anne, in Port-au-Prince, whose work had been initiated in September 2013.

Covering an area of nearly 7,000 m2, the Place Sainte-Anne has a multi-sports field with a step of 330 seats, a skateboard court, children's play movable, a platform for entertainment, a toilet block and an administrative space. It offers an attractive setting with green spaces.

The work carried out have been executed by the Haitian firm SOGECOMAT, supervised by the ULCPB and funded to the tune 50 million gourdes (50,221,000.00) by the Treasury through the PetroCaribe funds.

The Head of State welcomed the completion of this project and expressed its appreciation to all those who contributed in one way or another, to the execution of the rehabilitation works of the Place Sainte-Anne. The President Martelly invited the public to protect the public square where the bust of Professor Emeritus, Horatius Laventure is highlighted and encouraged officials to keep it in good condition.
