Haiti - NOTICE : Remedial classes for 10,000 students penalized by strikes
In a circular addressed to principals of high schools and fundamental schools, signed by Renold Telfort, Director General of the Ministry of National Education and approved by the Minister of Education, Nesmy Manigat, the Ministry announces remedial courses for 10,000 students penalized by strikes.

"The strike triggered by some teacher unions in the public sector of education has put more than 10,000 young people attending especially high schools in deficit of 172 hours of instruction https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13044-haiti-education-the-minister-manigat-requests-a-truce-to-the-teacher-unions-on-strike.html , if one also takes into account the transport strike and demonstration days.

In the interest to offer the same opportunities for success to all children of the country, which should have the same number of days of attendance, the General Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, request all directors of high schools of the Republic, to take all necessary steps, in order to organize as of this Saturday, March 14, 2015, remedial classes for all children concerned, particularly those that must participate in the official exams this year.

Consequently, all other paid educational activities (remedial classes, private lessons, assignments, etc.) contrary to the support systems for children as part of the recovery of lost hours, should no longer be allowed.

It is understood that teachers wishing to accompany for free their students outside of regular school hours are encouraged by the Ministry to do it."

The Ministry also informed that a brigade will be established with the support of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in view of tracking students circulating in the streets at class hours.
