Haiti - Economy : The CCIHC a major economic player between Canada and Haiti
Thursday, Ambassador of Canada, Paula Caldwell St-Onge, was the guest of a networking cocktail attended by the Prime Minister, Evans Paul and Michel Lamarre, President of the Haitian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIHC) to highlight the work of the Chamber of Commerce.

"I applaud the work of the Chamber which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of existence, and its members that enable the organization to play a leading role in the economic and trade development of Haiti," declared the Ambassador Caldwell St-Onge. Through your commitment, you also demonstrate that the relationship between Canada and Haiti go beyond political issues and development assistance and also include economic and trade relations."

Michel Lamarre stressed "The CCIHC positions itself as an indispensable interlocutor for the strengthening of economic relations between Canada and Haiti. We work closely with the Commercial Section of the Canadian Embassy in Haiti and the Haitian Embassy in Canada in order to to help Canadians investors to form partnerships in Haiti and help Haitian investors to export their products to Canada [...]

[...] In 2013, the annual goods trade between Haiti and Canada amounted to 70.4 million Canadian dollars (2.6 billion Gourdes). For Canada, economic growth and poverty reduction go hand in hand. The Haitian and Canadian private sector, supported by CCIHC can and must play a key role in the economic development of Haiti."

Founded in 2004, the CCIHC contributes to business development of its members through the creation of trade exchanges between a network of Canadian and Haitian companies. It has already conducted several high-level business activities, both in Canada and Haiti, to promote trade and investment between the two countries.
