Certificate of good conduct, less easy to obtain
The Certificate of good conduct, much sought by candidates in the next election, is likely to be less easy to obtain. Pierre Richard Casimir, the Minister of Justice has indeed deplored, that too often the document was issued without prior research. He asks the Peace Court to require a number of papers to any applicant: national ID card, two identity photos, birth certificate or an extract of the national archives, a certificate issued by the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) (for those living in the metropolitan area) and by the police stations and sub-stations (for those living in other departments). In addition, the Minister requires that judges conduct a proximity investigation for each applicant, which shall not exceed 8 days. Measures that should, according to the Minister, avoid attributing such a certificate to offenders...

Serge Jean Louis, Executive Board member of the "People's Patriotic Movement Dessalinien" (MOPOD) of the radical opposition, announced after the candidacy to the presidential inauguration of Mirlande Manigat (RDNP) and Me Samuel Madistin, the "Parti Louvri Baryè" PLB, founding member of MOPOD has proposed the candidacy of the former Prime Minister Jacques Edouard Alexis.
