Haiti - Justice : New Government Commissioner at the Court of Appeal

Monday, during a formal sitting chaired by Me Durin Duret Junior assisted by judges Dufresne Guillaume and Marie Jocelyne Casimir, the judge Carvez Jean was sworn in, as new Government Commissioner at the Court of Appeals of Port-au-Prince. He replaces Me Raphael Jean-Baptiste, retired.

The ceremony was marked by glowing words of the various stakeholders in the place of Me Carvez Jean, saluting the courage, discipline and leadership that marked his 20 years of experience in the Haitian judiciary. Judge Durin Duret Junior hoped that Me Jean will, once again, bring honor to the judiciary, while inviting him to always defend the interests of society.

Me Frantz Poteau, Representative of the Public Ministry welcomed the arrival of Me Jean at the head of this prosecutor and promised the full support of other substitutes. For his part, Me Carlos Hercule, the Dean of the Bar Association of Port-au-Prince, has promised to the new Commissioner "customary cooperation of the Bar of Port-au-Prince,"claiming not to doubt the competence of Me Carves Jean and invited him to contribute to improve the image of the Haitian justice.

Me Carves Jean has promised not to unworthy of the trust placed in him and promised to fulfill his function in accordance with the laws of the Republic "I publicly give you the guarantee that I shall put myself to the size of the task ahead," promising to have the law as compass.

Having started his career as a judge of Peace in Saint-Marc then Miragoâne and Petionville, Me Jean was, in turn, deputy Government Commissioner near the TPI of Saint-Marc and Port-au-Prince before becoming a judge. He was previously a substitute Government Commissioner at the Court of Appeal of Port-au-Prince.
