Haiti - News : Electoral Zapping...
The Candidacy of Stevenson Thimoléon contested
The candidacy of Jacques Stevenson Thimoléon for the position of Deputy of Petit Goâve, will be challenged by the Joint Liberation Front (FML) for causes of corruption and embezzlement. The announcement was made Sunday evening by Ernxo Pierre aka "Maitre Alain" Spokesman of the front, which added "Thimoléon will not have access the next election [...] We filed against him at the Electoral Council a dispute with supporting evidence. The hearing will be held Tuesday, April 28 at the CEP."

Good news for the CEP and voters
While the Electoral Council was concerned about the inclusion of too many candidates on a ballot, after analysis of the inscriptions, the CEP estimates that on average: 17 candidates for deputies and 15 in the Senate will be on the ballots.

Replacement of interim agents and of Ministers
Speaking on the replacement of the interim executive agents and ministers who resigned, the Prime Minister, Evans Paul promised that they will be replaced in the best delay, explaining that the Haitian government had no ability to instantly replace all interim executive agents in 142 communes.

Call to order of Evans Paul
While the campaign period has not yet begun, several candidates seeking visibility seek to use any pretext to influence the electorate... In response to these unauthorized activities, the Head of Government declared ""If someone one wishes to become deputy or senator, he must begin to enforce the law. If according to the schedule we are not yet in the electoral campaign, it is not normal for people already take a campaign attitude since this can complicate the situation, including for the police."

A practical guide for journalists
In order to support a series of training seminars on the theme "Human Rights and Election Observation", the Embassy of Canada in Haiti donated 100 booklets of the "Practical guide of the Haitian journalist" to the Office of the Protection to the Citizen (OPC). These guides will be distributed at training sessions in Jérémie, Hinche, and Port-de-Paix.
