A Haitian immigrant was shot dead by unknown assailants in the community of Pontón, municipality of the province of Navarrete (Santiago) indicated the Dominican police this Monday.

The victim was identified as Juan Pierre Jean, 32, who lived at the Popa pension, in Navarrete, her Haitian partner Rosita Mishell, also aged 32.

The woman told police investigators she was walking along the Duarte road in Pontón with his companion, when two men on a motorcycle without a word, fired repeatedly on Jean Pierre Juan. Rosita Mishell was not injured in the attack.

The coroner Jesus Rosario, examined the body in the presence of Deputy Prosecutor Manuel de Jesus Cueva and certified the death of the victim caused by multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

On the scene, the scientific and technical police, collected as evidence, five nine-millimeter caliber cartridge and a ball.

An investigation is open to determine the reasons for the murder for the moment unexplained and find the perpetrators of this crime.
