Haiti - Culture : Ady Jean Gardy, receives the «Grand Prize International of history»
Last weekend, as part of the 47th annual contest dedicated to thorough historical investigations not yet unveiled, the Haitian historian, Ady Jean-Gardy, career journalist and former Minister for Communication (2012-2013) was awarded to Bordeau (France) by the International Cultural Association "Arts and Letters of France", of the "Grand Prize International of history" for his work "stories of the Arawak Indians of Haiti".

The jury of the International Cultural Association, estimates that this 500-page document, projects a new light on the life of Indian Arawaks of Haiti and shows information on the struggles of the This research goes back to the empire of Mesopotamia, to the times of ancient Egypt and the arrival of Arawaks came from this region 1,500 years BC, alongside Caraïs people who took possession of the Amazon and the said Caribbean region simultaneously. This book also tells the establishment of the first Caciquats of our country.

We discover the ancestors of Anacaona and her brother Bohéchio, which in its time controlled the whole island of Hispaniola, from Kenscoff. The Incas and the Arawaks who shared the same visions of the world are presented in this research, with countless historical details, bringing them closer to other peoples of the region, such as Ciguayens of Guadeloupe or Ciboneys came from Florida.

Finally in this book, Ady Jean-Gardy, showcases theIndian guerrillas against slavery, barbarism, and the defense of human rights. Whole chapters are devoted to a chain of Indian revolutionaries who succeeded during the war against Spain, such as Caonabo Manicatex, Guarionex, the rebel Inês of Cayacoa et son assistante Cambanama, Bohéchio, the queen Anacaona, Guarocuya, Cotubanama, Hattuey Yaguana aassisted by his wife Aramoca, Gwa-Amanex, Galvanex and finally the Cacique Henry Gwakimina.

The Competition Jury said he was "impressed" by the work of Ady Jean-Gardy, they described as scientific document of great significance.

The Laureate will receive the Prize in the presence of writers from around the world and the French Academy in June in Angoulême.
