Tuesday, according to information provided by the Tenth Battalion of the Dominican Army Sergeant Major Teolfilo Ogando Recio was violently attacked with a knife at the Dajabón border by a Haitian, who tried to steal his service weapon, a M-16 rifle. Despite an injury to the throat, the Dominican military could prevent the theft of his weapon.

Teolfilo Ogando Recio was rushed to the hospital of the Municipality of Restauración, province of Dajabon, then transferred to the Regional Hospital Jose Maria Cabral y Baez of Santiago, to receive the care required by his injury.

According to the military authorities, the attacker fled into the mountainous areas of Restauración. Dozens of soldiers have engaged on the tracks of the fugitive to stop him and submit him to justice.
