Postponement of the first round of legislative elections in October ?

Given the difficulties encountered in the election process and numerous accumulated delays, the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH) wonders about the ability of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to respect the electoral timeline.

In this sense, RNDDH invites the CEP to reconsider its timetable and to take the necessary arrangements and not ruling out the possibility of postponement of the partial legislative elections scheduled for the month of August 2015 to October 2015, with the first round of presidential elections and local elections. RNDDH believes that it is better to organize good elections rather than rushing and organize elections that may lead to post-electoral crisis. Moreover, this proposal, if enforced, will help value the local elections, generally insufficiently considered by citizens emphasizes the RNDDH.

Steven Benoît presidential candidate, filed his documents

Since Monday, May 11, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) launched the online pre-registration process for the presidential candidates which will continue until May 20. But, it was only Wednesday that the first candidate filed his documents BED Ouest 1, this is the current Western Departmental Delegate, Gonzague Day. Thursday, several candidates have filed their documents they are among other Senator Steven Benoît under the banner of "Conviction" platform, which claims to be of the opposition to power, Pastor Reynold Jean Bazin of the "Christian Movement for a New Haiti" (MOCHRENA) and ex-Major Gerald Dalvius under the banner of party "Alternative for the Development of Haiti".

All records of candidates should be inspected rigorously

Following the decisions taken by the National Electoral Office of Litigation (BCEN) in the context of challenges brought to it, RNDDH reminds the CEP that decide to remove or retain the candidacy of a citizen can not be done only on the basis of challenges. Therefore it recommends that the records of all candidates, including those who are not subject to challenge, are obligatorily carefully analyzed in accordance with the Haitian Constitution and the Electoral Decree in force.
