Haiti - Politic : Jean Max Bellerive in Argentina
Jean Max Bellerive, Haiti's Prime Minister will travel to Argentina this week to strengthen bilateral relations. During his visit, the Prime Minister will meet with Haitian President Cristina Fernandez, Nestor Kirchner, the secretary general of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and Héctor Timerman the Foreign Minister of International Trade and Worship .

Héctor Timerman said that "Argentina's commitment to Haiti is a long story that boils down to 15 years of solidarity and joint efforts". "Following the earthquake which hit the Caribbean country last January, this relationship was strengthened with the commitments taken by UNASUR, which quickly showed its solidarity with the brotherly country with a contribution of $100 million" advised the Minister. "Of this amount, over $16 million of Argentina have been used through the UNASUR support for food projects, prevention of risks and natural disasters as well as strengthening state capacity Haitian [...] an additional one million dollars was allocated by the Argentine government to fund additional projects", noted the Chancellor.
