Haiti - Social : Sugarcane cutters angry against Haiti 02/06/2015 10:46:27
The trade unionist Jesus Nunez Cañeros Spokesperson and Coordinator of the Union of sugarcane workers in the bateyes, lamented that the Embassy of Haiti has still not delivered the documents requested many times by thousands of workers, who work in the sugar cane fields "It only remains 17 days ! With what documents we will present ourselves to the Ministry of Interior and the police, to register in the Regularisation Plan ?" complained Nunez. The union leader said that the Embassy had already given more than 10 dates to deliver the necessary documents (birth certificate, identity card and passport) but none have been respected. Recalling that on about 50,000 registered cañeros, 10,000 have applied for identity documents, but so far only 300 cane workers were able to register in the Dominican Regularisation Plan.
