Haiti - FLASH : An employee of the CEP shot and wounded
Friday in a note, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) informs that one of its employees on board a vehicle carrying materials for Communal Electoral Offices (BEC), intended to facilitate the process of filing documents of candidates for municipal and local elections, was wounded when individuals fired several times on his vehicle.
"The Council condemns and strongly protests against such aggression and therefore requests to the competent authorities to find and punish according to the law, with extreme rigor, all perpetrators, co-perpetrators and accomplices of this criminal offense."
The Council that reiterates its determination to do everything possible to hold elections "free, fair, inclusive and democratic", urges the authorities to take "all measures deemed necessary to protect its employees and property".
