Haiti - NOTICE : Movies for 17+ adults... call to order of CONATEL

In a note the National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL) is deeply concerned by the many complaints came from parents justly alarmed, by the broadcasting, to unauthorized hours, of pornographic films on some TV channels.

"CONATEL reminds owners and managers of these media, the existence of a regulatory act which deals with penalties for such cases.

Published in the official newspaper 'Le Moniteur', Wednesday, 7 August 2013, the decision of the Executive Body of the National Telecommunications Council (#OE-CNT-DEC-20130002) requires substantially :

  • First, that no broadcasting station, broadcasts between 5:30 am and 10:30 pm, programs whose content is prohibited to viewers under 17 who are not accompanied by a parent or guardian ;

  • Second, that the programs whose content is prohibited to listeners or viewers under 17 years even if accompanied by a parent or guardian are subject to a total ban on the not-scrambled channels.

"

The Executive Body of CONATEL urges all managers and radio and television owners to take or resume the reading of the "regulatory act" in question, which refers to a system of classification known worldwide for evaluation of his type of audiovisual content.
