For the first time, was held (on May 29) a national evaluation for nearly 400,000 students in the 4th year of fundamental (AF), in accordance with paragraphs 3 and 4 of Presidential Decree of 2 September 2014 on the reorganization of schools of the Republic https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13724-haiti-notice-the-evaluations-replace-the-exams-of-6th-af-and-the-bac-1st-part.html

For Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education, the course of this successful evaluation allowed to show "that we can do great things with few resources." Thanking all those who have contributed to the success of this operation, the Minister Manigat stressed the importance of this evaluation at the end of the first cycle of basic education (4th year of fundamental), stressing that "the data obtained will enable the ministry to make the necessary corrections on the teaching-learning process in the field."

The Minister recalled that the initiative was aimed at evaluating the knowledge acquired by students of the 4th year of fundamental n the disciplines selected for this exercise. In what (s) subject (s) the student has failed ? Why it failed ? What is the performance of teachers ? Are all questions that will help the Ministry to guide initiatives in term of training of teachers and student supervision.

"Mathematics, French and Creole, subjects on which covered this evaluation are basic and weigh heavily on the schooling of children [...] A child who does not master the concepts of these three subjects will have all the trouble to develop normally in the education system. Mathematics provides an opening to the science and technology education, languages, through reading and writing, help to understand at this level, other educational disciplines," said the Minister Manigat.

After this evaluation, the Minsitry is heading towards the official exams of the 9th AF to be held from 22 to 24 June, according to the official calendar of state exams.
