Haiti - Environment : Reforestation campaign of Sean Penn
As part of the reforestation campaign of former IDP camps of 12 January 2010, in teh zone of Canapé Vert and neighborhoods of Delmas 32, launched last April by J/P Haitian Relief, the humanitarian organization of American actor Sean Penn and that aims to plant 50,000 trees (seedlings) fruit and forest by the month of July, several sites have already been reforested : Parc Canapé-Vert (ENAF 1 et 3), Camp Saint-Hilaire, Community of Sainte-Marie (Quartier B) and Camp AVSCB. 12,000 plantules seedlings have already been planted.

On June 5, on the occasion of World Environment day, the Community Development program of the J/P HRO, proceeded to the inauguration of two hangars built in its Community Development Centre, street Crepsac Delmas 40 B. These premises were made available to the community of Delmas 32, (the target community of J/P HRO) for meetings and meetings but especially for practical training sessions on the management of green space and environmental protection. The theme, "My community, my responsibility"; "Kominote pa m, responsabilite m", has guided the remediation and reforestation activities in all neighborhoods and all the streets of Delmas 32 that followed that day. Brooms, shovels, rakes in hand etc... under the supervision of the leaders of local community organizations, women and children, fathers and son, youth and adults have thoroughly cleaned the streets of their community and have been able to develop small green spaces on public galleries, the schools courtyards, and planted about 1,000 seedlings.

Saturday 13 and Sunday, June 14, 2015 will be dedicated to reforestation campaign of former camp cité Théard, zone Sainte-Marie, in Canapé Vert where will be planted close to 10,000 seedlings.

Until exhaustion of 50,000 initial seedlings, planting activities will continue every weekend to other sites until the end of July 2015.

J/P HRO remains open to potential site proposals and invites everyone to join it in the realization of this great campaign. You are all still expected this weekend and nexts.
