Haiti - Dominican Republic : The Army arrested 26 Haitians arrived by sea
A Dominican army patrol spotted and arrested 26 undocumented Haitians who were entering Dominican territory aboard a speedboat along the coast of Manzanillo, in the province of Monte Cristi (north).

The migrants, 16 men, 9 women and 6 month old baby, have been intercepted near the town of Copey. Haitians in possession of bags containing food and water, said the person who transported them from Fort-Liberté, on the northeast coast of Haiti, had left them in a wooded area they had to wait for someone to take them to Santiago and Mao.

They recognized that their intention was to try to qualify for the National Plan for Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE). The baby's mother said she was planning to acquire its regularization document and declare her daughter as a Dominican, as did others of his countrymen. Inefficient and conventional method, each time thwarted by the Dominican authorities. They also said they paid between 5,500 and 6,500 pesos to come illegally in the Dominican Republic.

After their arrest, they were taken to the headquarters of the tenth army battalion in Dajabon, to be handed to immigration authorities and repatriated to Haiti.

Moreover, in recent days, hundreds of our compatriots, carry identification cards and birth certificates come daily on Dominican territory by the Dajabón border to try to qualify for the PNRE. Many Haitians living illegally in the Dominican Republic accuse the newcomers compatriots to be responsible for disturbances that take place in the documentation centers of Santiago, Mao and Dajabón. A vain approach since applicants must prove to the authorities with documents and witnesses Dominicans, they lived in Dominican territory since at least October, 19 2011.

Note that the Dominican police arrested many people, mostly of Haitian nationality, surprises in the process of trying to defraud their fellow (fake appointment number, sales of rank in the queue and other unkept promises), including at the offices of PNRE in Santiago, Mao, Puerto Plata and Dajabón.
