Haiti - Politic : Repatriation, the Government appeals to national solidarity
Tuesday, to less than 24 hours of the deadline for registration in the National Plan of Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) [17 June 7h00 pm], living in an irregular migratory situation in the Dominican Republic, Prime Minister Evans Paul gave a press briefing on the issue of repatriation of our compatriots, which will start from 18 June 2015 for all those who are not enrolled in the PNRE, whatever their nationality https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14168-haiti-politic-d-6-dominican-republic-ready-for-repatriation.html

According to Evans Paul, 4 official cross points to à Malpasse, Ouanaminthe, Anse à Pitre, and Belladère have "devices" to receive Haitian deportees [?] https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14210-haiti-social-the-reception-centers-for-repatriated-haitians-are-not-ready.html

Adding, "To manage such a situation, it is necessary, first, that the government take responsibility, through all the authorities concerned [...]" Beyond government responsibility, the Head of Government has appealed to national solidarity stressing "It should not be that there is rivalry between the government, opposition and civil society on this issue. All Haitians must unite to receive our countrymen with honor and dignity."

The Haitian government said to be mobilized to welcome compatriots threatened with repatriation from 18 June 2015, while the Chancellor Lener Renauld had suggest that the Dominican Government had granted an extension of 45 days. To be clear, beyond any demagogy, there was never any extension to the PNRE. The 45 days mentioned are part of the application law of PNRE for 18 months and is only an administrative deadline for applicants already enrolled to complete their file https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14210-haiti-social-the-reception-centers-for-repatriated-haitians-are-not-ready.html

lso on Tuesday, at the Hotel Karibe, Evans Paul, accompanied in particular by Ariel Henry, Minister of the Interior, Victor Benoît, Minister of Social Affairs, Robert Labrousse, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad introduced the "Haiti contingency plan" to the representatives of local governments and discuss the issue of repatriation. According to Evans Paul repatriation issue of our compatriots is not only the problem of the Haitian government. "This is a national responsibility and that is why we are calling for the solidarity of everyone starting with our ASEC our CASEC and our interim executive agents operating in the border area."

Ariel Henry declared, "[...] From this meeting, we'll pass clear instructions to the authorities of the border area in order to better organize the repatriation process that should begin shortly..."

For his part, the Head of Government stressed "We must work hand in hand for our fellow victim of that judgment of the Dominican Constitutional Court in Article 168-13. The government will be on the border to welcome the son and daughters of the homeland. We demand the support of all those who live along the border to welcome our compatriots [...]"

In summary, beyond the fine words of each other, all is far to be ready to Haiti to face the coming repatriation and welcome with dignity our brothers and sisters, for most victims of lack of identification documents to register in the PNRE documents that the Haitian Government has been unable to provide them despite its repeated promises...
