Haiti - Social : Our compatriots have deserted the streets
This Thursday morning in Santo Domingo and Santiago, a considerable drop in the presence of our compatriots was found in public places usually crowded by Haitian and on sidewalks, in the streets and avenues, after the end of registrations in the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) yesterday at midnight.

In Santiago very popular places such as the Thursday market, in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood and neighboring areas usually occupied by a large majority of Haitians, both buyers and sellers, were almost deserted. In the streets and avenues, the merchants had almost all disappeared.

Was reported to us hat on the border, many Haitian families, leaving the country with all their belongings in pickup trucks, to voluntarily return to Haiti, rather than being expelled and probably lose all the goods they own.

It seems that many of our compatriots have preferred to stay at home, or to hide for fear of being arrested and repatriated, as the law applies as of this Thursday, June 18, for all illegal migrants (whatever their nationality) that are not registered in PNRE.

However, were observed dozens of Haitians came to the Centers of PNRE to file the documents required at registration, in order to regularize. Unfortunately for them, the staff was not at work, allowed to leave after a week of overflow and tensions.

Normally Offices will reopen Monday, June 22, 2015 according to available information.

Recall that from June 18, registrants have 45 days maximum to complete their regularization application file.
