Haiti - Education : IDB is financing the construction of 100 new schools
Tuesday, Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), accompanied by the Director General, Léon Ronsard St Cyr and the Deputy Director General, Paul Gabriel Moise, of the Fund for Economic and Social Assistance (FAES) , visited the completed construction of the first 3 schools (École Nationale de Zoranje ; École Congréganiste Externat La Providence et l’École Elie Dubois), of a project of 100 schools to be built in the next 3 years.

Note that the Elie Dubois School was co-financed by the IDB and the "Barefoot" organization founded by Colombian pop star Shakira https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-2655-haiti-reconstruction-shakira-idb-$800-000-for-elie-dubois-school.html

Moreno said that about 75 schools will be completed this year. The project announced in 2012 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14144-haiti-elections-justice-for-all-except-for-laurent-lamothe.html had seen the work stopped from June 2012 to July 2014 to ensure the quality of construction, which posed several problems. FAES had then hired more engineers to examine drawings and train builders to strictly respects of the standards.

During his visit to the National School of Zoranje built by FAES, he said to be satisfied with the realization of this school infrastructure which includes several buildings : 9 classrooms with a capacity of 50 students each, a building for the kindergarten with two rooms, and another comprising a dining hall, a deposit, a kitchen, and a computer room.
