Although Ouanaminthe authorities have decided that buyers and sellers of Haiti would not participate in the market, hundreds of Haitians remained for hours on the banks of the river near the bridge, with the hope that the decision is revoked, which did not occur. For their part, Dominican merchants and buyers were surprised by this decision...

Some Haitians who had crossed into Dominican territory by the river, to buy despite everything some products have seen their goods confiscated by the Haitian authorities upon their return.

However, the Haitian immigration authorities have allowed the voluntary return of families residing illegally in Dominican territory. At border gates giving access to Haitian territory, vehicles used for the transport of Haitian goods, are subject to disinfection by spraying chemicals.
