Disturbance in the competition of supervisors

Saturday, disturbances took place in the competition for the recruitment of electoral supervisors at Lycée de Pétion-Ville. Some candidates have protested against the CEP and the Departmental Electoral Office (BED 1 West) that only one examination center had been retained, to receive hundreds of applicants.

CEP met Protestant religious leaders

Monday, a meeting was held at the Hotel Karibe Convention Center, between members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and about 200 Protestant religious leaders. It has been widely debated during discussions on the issue of electoral violence. The participants asked the judicial and police authorities to assume their responsibilities so that elections can take place in a climate of peace. This approach of the CEP is part of the campaign initiated by the Council in order to sensitize the electorate to participate in future elections. With 1,500 Protestant missions, 850 Pentecostal missions, hundreds of Baptist missions and 30 Methodist missions this Christian electorate is far from being negligible.

Civil society will deploy over 2,000 observers

Several organizations of civil society, including the National Network for the Defence of Human Rights (RNDDH) and the Haitian Council of Non State Actors (CONHANE), prepare to deploy over 2,000 observers in the upcoming elections.
