Haiti - Religion : Mgr Simon Pierre Saint-Hillien passed away...

Wednesday afternoon, Mgr Simon Pierre Saint-Hillien (64) bishop of Hinche, has died of cancer at the Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami, USA). Several alumni of the College Basile Moreau, which he founded in 1989, saluted with sadness his departure.

Simon-Pierre Saint-Hillien born July 6, 1951 in Gonaives had joined the Congregation of Holy Cross (CSC) where he made his perpetual vows on October 5, 1980. He was ordained priest on December 28 of that year. On 10 December 2002, Simon-Pierre Saint-Hillien was appointed auxiliary bishops of Port-au-Prince alongside Archbishop Francois Wolff Ligondé; He was consecrated February 22, 2003 by Cardinal Roger Etchegaray. On 6 August 2009, he is installed in Hinche where he succeeded Bishop Louis Kébreau (transferred in Cap Haitien).
