Haiti - FLASH : Haitian rob 2 M16 rifles to Dominican soldiers
Tuesday, August 4, at 6:00 am, at least 7 individuals of Haitian origin, pretending a request for information on the Nation Plan of Regularization of Foreigners, have taken two M16 assault rifles to the Army post in El Embalse, in the border area of Pedernales, before fleeing. According to members of the military detachment stationed there, one of two M16 belonged to a serving soldier. This theft has created tension and anxiety among residents of this border area.

General Domingo Medina Mendez, of the Fifth Brigade of the Army came from Barahona to head a Commission of Inquiry with Colonel Víctor Mercedes, Director of Intelligence (G2). We learned that the sergeant major, who commands the detachment, was arrested and put under investigation until all the circumstances of this act is clarified. This is the only detained suspect so far.

Remember that there is more than one year, the Haitian people had stripped of his weapon a soldier of CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza) after beating him while he was on duty.
