The Tabulation Center, will not have access to the ballot box or ballots

The Centre for Tabulation of votes (CTV), located to the SONAPI, will begin operations in the evening of August 9, 2015. Note that the CTV will not have access to the ballot box or to ballots that will be preserved in the Departmental Electoral Offices (BED). Only minutes drafted by members of polling stations will be used to count the votes.

Widmarc Matador, the Director of CTV, said that a step will be carried out to verify the authenticity of the minutes. The legality of the latter will be checked by lawyers of the Centre. The minutes will be scanned before data entry and 2 separate operators will proceed to the seizure before a check with the submitted minute, which should help avoid entry errors. 800 technicians will work as part of this process.

Deployment of sensitive materials

Haitian election authorities announced that sensitive materials, ballot boxes and ballots will be transported from this Thursday, August 6 in the Voting centers, together with the deployment of the Electoral Security Agents (ESA) in Polling stations in particular responsible for ensuring the protection of members of the bureaux and sensitive materials.

Members of CEP will be on the ground Sunday

Pierre Manigat Jr., Vice President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) said the election day, the highest authorities of the Electoral Board will be on the ground in all departments. According to Pierre Manigat Jr, each department will be under the control of an adviser who will represent CEP and ensure the smooth running of the electoral process.

Several causes explain the disinterest of voters

Wednesday, a survey report made public by the organization "Panos Caribbean," says that "discrimination, disinterestedness in politics, illiteracy, difficulties in obtaining national identification card, violence during elections" are obstacles to the effective participation of women and disabled people in the electoral process in Haiti. Note that several studies also believe that Sunday turnout could be around only 15%.
