Statement by the US Embassy in preparation for the holding of elections on August 9, 2015 : "The U.S. Embassy would like to encourage the people of Haiti to make their voices heard and vote in legislative elections. The U.S. Embassy would like to particularly encourage women to vote. As the poto mitan of the Haitian people, their contribution is crucial. This is an important election. Legislatures in any democratic system are a direct link to the will of the people. Members of Parliament represent you and your concerns in government, so let your voice be heard with your vote.
