Solemn appeal of CEP

Thursday at least 3 days of the legislative elections of Sunday, August 9, 2015, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) launched a solemn appeal to the Haitian people to participate massively in the elections. Pierre Louis Opont, the President of the CEP announced that everything was ready for Sunday's vote "You will vote in peace, it will be a peaceful day, all the arrangements have been made with the police."

Access to CTV authorized to candidates, but...

Widmarc Matador, Director of Vote Tabulation Centre (CTV), said candidates will be allowed to go to the CTV, however, stating that they will not be able to verify the minutes, that only the National Electoral Office (BCEN) can claim for verification.

Frantz Bernadin, the Spokesman of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) said that 1,854 candidates are competing for 20 Senate seats and 119 in the lower house.

At senate 232 candidates will aspire one of the 20 Senators vacant positions (23 women and 209 men): Artibonite 25 candidates ; Centre, 23 ; Grand-Anse, 16 ; Nippes, 15 candidates; North, 34 ; North east, 16 ; North West, 25 ; West, 39 ; South, 25 and the Southeast, 14 candidates.

n the lower house, they are 1,621 aspiring to become one of 119 deputies (129 women and 1,492 men) : Artibonite, 197 candidates ; Centre, 127; Grand-Anse, 88 ; Nippes, 82 candidates; North, 202; Northeast, 84 ; Northwest, 96; West, 452 ; South, 175 and the Southeast, 118 candidates.
