Haïti - CARIFORUM : National Workshop employer-worker 14/08/2015 11:45:17 The Workshop, facilitated by the ILO in collaboration with the Caribbean Employers’ Confederation (CEC) and the Caribbean Congress of Labour (CCL), is one of a series of national bipartite workshops for CARIFORUM member States, under a three-year Project* funded by the European Union (EU). The Project seeks to build capacity within the Caribbean regional workers’ and employers’ organizations, so that they can participate effectively in regional policy development and integration processes and thus fulfil their obligations under the Social Aspects Chapter of the Economic Partnership Agreement. Wayne Chen, President, CEC, and David Massiah, President, CCL, are expected to attend the Workshop to incorporate Haiti’s national concerns and raise them at the regional level. "The Caribbean Employers' Confederation welcomes this opportunity to further social dialogue in Haiti as we believe this to be a powerful tool for enhancing the sustainability of business, creating decent jobs, and thereby contributing positively to national and regional development." says Wayne Chen, President, CEC. Javier Niño Pérez, Ambassador, European Union Delegation to Haití, along with a representative from Haiti’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, have been invited to attend the opening ceremony. It is hoped that the Workshop will create closer synergies with Haiti, and ongoing support from the organizations representing the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean. The bipartite meetings represent the first in a series of national activities to be undertaken in each of the 15 countries which are members of CARIFORUM. Venue: NH Haiti El Rancho hotel, Rue Jose Marti 5, Petion-Ville, Haiti Registration: 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Opening Ceremony: 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. HL/ HaïtiLibre
