7th day of demonstration in Jacmel

In Jacmel, following the publication of preliminary results of the legislative on August 20, took place the 7th day of demonstrations of supporters of some legislative candidates in the Southeast, gathered within the "Collective operation to release the South East", they denounce the election results, which according to them are not conform to the popular will expressed and require the respect of vote of the electorate.

Dieuseul Simon Desras request the annulment of the poll of 9 August

Dieuseul Simon Desras calls for "the pure and simple cancellation of the poll of 9 August" indicating "[...] at the time when I was the President of the National Assembly, I predicted that we could not have good elections with the Provisional Electoral Council. This CEP is a disappointment and the masquerade of August 9 a national disgrace. This is a CEP corrupted at 60% [...] Senate candidates are all victims of the incompetence and indifference of the members of the Electoral Council [...]"

The US Ambassador as « considers » acceptable the vote of August 9

This week, during a working session with the electoral advisers to assess the first round of election, Pamela Ann White, Ambassador of the United States accredited to Haiti, said the results of the elections on 9 August were "acceptable even if there was violence and irregularities, it was not perfect but there have been elections," adding "officials of the Provisional Electoral Council are aware of the need to make corrections [.. .] we must have a better second roundb because this second round is so important."

The referral of disputes organs, ie the challenge of a Deputies or a senator has a cost. Each complainant must attest of payment of a deposit to the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI): 15,000 gourdes for a challenge against a candidate for deputy and 25,000 gourdes for challenging a candidate for the Senate. This deposit will be fully refunded to the winning party. Total deposits paid to the DGI is deposited every eight days on behalf of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to the BRH.
