Haiti - Education : Back to school threatened by unions 03/09/2015 11:32:30
The Minister Manigat, in a letter to the teacher unions, dated 1 September 2015, inviting them to a meeting at the Ministry, this Thursday, September 3 to find a compromise so that the return is done without incident, confirmed Millody Vincent, the head of communications of the Ministry of Education. Nesmy Manigat believes that his ministry and the teachers' unions have the shared responsibility for the success of the next school year, hence the invitation to talk about the implementation of agreements already signed between the two parties, but also for share the roadmap of this new academic year. Josué Mérilien, the Coordinator of the National Union of Haitian Normaliens (UNNOH), which confirms having received this invitation, requires the full payment of salary arrears, the monitoring of cases of teachers with a letter of appointment and health insurance card for all teachers.
