Haiti - FLASH : The platform VERITE withdraws from elections
Following the numerous incidents, violence and fraud that occurred during the first round of elections on 9 August, the platform VERITE (co-founded by René Préval) grouping various political parties and organizations and main political group of the electoral race (with the presidential party PTHK) announced Tuesday in an official statement signed by its General Coordinator Génard Joseph, its withdrawal from the electoral process with the current Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

Statement of the Platform VERITE :(September 8, 2015)
"The various political parties and organizations that compose the platform VERITE have took the decision not to continue to participate in the elections with the current CEP. This CEP leads the country in an election 'bouyivide ki gen anpil fòs kote'.

VERITE is one of the main victims of the electoral mess that will lead the country into instability and dictatorship. Political parties and organizations that compose the platform VERITE, will have to contact their members and candidates to explain the reasons for this position, which is good for democracy and stability.

This is not because a candidate VERITE would have passed in the first round if not in the second round, that VERITE will endorse an electoral mess that will enhance instability and dictatorship. VERITE requires a good CEP to organize good elections.

Génard Joseph
General Coordinator"

With the withdrawal of many candidates under the banner VERITE, the CEP is facing a complex challenge, especially as the ballots are already in production... and that the credibility of the forthcoming elections and the Electoral Council are re increasingly challenged.
