Haiti - Heritage : Tour in Spain of the Minister of Culture
Thursday, Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture at the head of a delegation composed among others of Patrick Durandis, Director General of the National Heritage Preservation Institute (ISPAN), the monument architect Patrick Delatour and former Culture Minister Eddy Lubin, began an exploratory mission to Spain, to strengthen technical cooperation between the two nations in the fields of Heritage Management and Training of Executives.

On the sidelines of the visit, the Minister will meet with the Spanish Secretary of State for Culture, D. Jose Maria Lassalle Ruiz. She will also held working sessions with, in particular, Reynaldo Fernandez, manager of the Monument "Alhambra" (World Heritage by UNESCO) and architects restorers of the Mosque of Córdoba and Málaga Cathedral, and Pablo Carvajal and Gabriel Ruiz Cabrero.

During the tour, the Haitian delegation will visit several heritage sites in Madrid and Malaga to better inquire on Heritage Management mechanisms set up by former Iberian empire, especially that of Alhambra .

This approach derives from the need for the Haitian government, through the Ministry of Culture, to manage, administer and highlight the Haitian monuments classified "National Heritage" and "World Heritage" by UNESCO. It will be, in parallel, to extend and expand the experience of Technical Assistance Programme of Spain to Jacmel in other departments of country.

Note that this visit falls within the framework of an agreement signed between the Government of Haiti, the World Bank (WB) and the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) for strengthening institutions for the protection of Heritage.
