Haiti - Insecurity : A mini bus of journalists attacked, 1 killed, 1 injured

A mini bus carrying seven journalists who followed the electoral campaign of the candidate Jacques Edouard Alexis, was attacked on the road between Gonaives and Cap Haitien, by a group of individuals armed with guns and machetes.

The driver, an ex-cop trying to intervene and was shot in the head. Individuals were then reversed the mini bus, injuring a journalist, said one passenger. Individuals were then grab the money and stole a laptop before fleeing.

The Haitian National Police (PNH) has moved quickly on the scene. Later, Frantz Lerebours, spokesman for the PNH reported that police had tracked down the suspects in the evening and proceeded to arrest of 3 individuals during a shootout between police and suspects. One policeman was wounded and a robber was fatally wounded. The suspects were taken to the police station of Gonaives.
