Monday, Dr. Max Rudolph Saint-Albin, Director General of the Office of Insurance Occupational Accidents, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) reported, at a press conference, on the advanced of his institution.

He took the opportunity to announce the launch of a social security project and the rationalization of the insurance sector in Haiti with a cover of the entire national territory, recalling that only 5% of the population was insured, a situation that must change said St. Albin, who stressed that OFATMA currently insures over 80,000 officers of the public service (for a total of nearly half a -million insured and dependents).

He explained that the expansion of the partner network was one of the main concerns of the government agency, revealing that so far, 44 hospitals, 124 doctors, funeral homes and pharmacies are already partners of OFATMA.

Furthermore, he said that OFATMA will not pursue any business that is not yet ready to offer the sickness and maternity insurance to employees reminding, however, that the work accident insurance remained mandatory.

Finally St. Albin wished to recall that the emergency care among OFATMA partners did not require any immediate charge to the beneficiary, calling for the cooperation of all to prevent any act of corruption.
