Haiti - Economy : Annual inflation, surpassed the 10%

During the month of August 2015, the Price Consumer Index (100 in August 2004) amounts to 242.8 against 239.3 in July and shows a monthly increase of + 1.5% (a deceleration in comparison to the monthly change of 2.0% the previous month). The yoy inflation continues to rise, reaching 10.4% in August against 9.3% in July 2015.

The functions that have most contributed to the monthly increase of 1.5% include: "Food, Beverage & Tobacco" (+ 1.8%), "Clothing and fabrics, footwear" (+ 1.6%), "Planning, Equipment and Maintenance housing "(+ 1.6%)" Clothing, Textiles and Footwear "(+ 1.6%)," Rent housing, Energy and Water "(+ 1.0%) and" Other Goods and Services "(+ 2.2%).

The progress of the "Food, Beverage & Tobacco" which represents over 50% of the household budget comes from special prices: millet (+3.1), grain corn (+ 2.8%), ground corn (+ 1.3%) , wheat flour (+3.8%), spaghetti (+ 1.1%), cornflakes (+ 6.4%), bread (+ 1.6%), beef (+ 1.4%), pork (+ 1.9%), goat meat (+ 2.0%), chicken (+ 2.2%), hotdog (+ 1.7%), fresh fish (+ 2.5%), eggs (+ 1.0%), edible oil (+ 1.0%), table margarine (+ 3.8%), cooking margarine (+ 1.7%), lawyer (+ 2.6%), bananas (+ 3.5%), pumpkin (+ 3.0%), kazoo (+ 3.6%), green peas (+ 3.1%), dry peas (+ 4.5%), eggplant (+ 3.6%), cabbage (+ 3.9%), onions (+ 3.9%), carrots (+ 4.1%), tomato (+ 3.8%), yam (+ 3.2%), malanga (+ 3.3%), potatoes (+ 3.9%), potatoes (+ 3.5%), real tree (+ 2.4%), orange (+ 3.4%) and chadèque (+ 2.3%).

The upward trend of the "Planning, Equipment and Housing Maintenance" is mainly due to price: of the dining room (+ 0.8%), the bed (+ 1.6%), the mattress (+ 1.4%), curtains (+ 2.4%), the web (+ 1.0%), toilet linen (+ 1.7%), insecticides (+ 4.4%), detergents (+ 3.1%), disinfectant (+ 1.7%) , wages of domestic workers (+ 2.7%), dry cleaning (+ 1.8%) and miscellaneous services (+ 2.6%).

At the origin of the increases of the "Health" function are found the increases in the drug prices (+ 2.1%), corrective lenses for spectacles (+ 2.7%), fees paid to doctors (+ 2.5%) and hospital costs (+ 2.3%) .

As for the increase in the "Other Goods and Services" it is consecutive to the increase mainly of the price : of toilette soap (+ 0.9%), the toothpaste (+ 0.7%), shampoo (+ 1.4%), perfume, toilet water (+ 3.2%), the body cream (+ 1.1%), beauty treatments (+ 2.0%) and shoes cleaning (+ 13.5%).
