Thursday, first day of application of the import ban by road of 23 Dominican products https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15156-haiti-notice-import-ban-by-road-of-certain-products-from-dr.html , a joint governmental mission, composed among others, of delegations of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, of the Ministry of Defence, of Ministry of Justice and Public Security, of the Technical Commission of Borders and the Union of Carriers went to the Malpasse border crossing point.

By this mission, the Government of the Republic intended to ensure that the bans measures intended to regulate and better control of imports were effectively implemented.

On this day, several products affected by this ban, who was trying to smuggle across the border, were seized by the Haitian forces of order.

The Government recalls that the non-respect of this measure, applicable to all official border crossings (Malpasse, Belladère Ouanaminte, Anse-à-Pitre), will result in sanctions under the laws in force and the seizure of the goods concerned.

However, we must remember that beyond these four border posts "under control", there are more than 100 illegal crossings points along the border that provide beautiful days for smugglers...
