Haiti - NOTICE : Registration renewal, delay, costs and sanctions
The General Tax Directorate (DGI) is reminding owners and drivers in particular of motorcycles and the general public, than in accordance with the legislation on road safety, all vehicles traveling on public roads must be registered and covered by a policy insurance.

Face the imposing number of motorcyclists that do not comply with this obligation, under various pretexts, the DGI, on the instructions of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, grants offenders a current deadline from October 1 to November 30, 2015 to become in good standing with the Administration. Furthermore, it is granted to them, among other facilities, the exemption exceptionally from the formality of the final tax return on income.



The persons concerned may withdraw their license plates and insurance in a single window, in all offices of the Departmental Directorates of Taxation, in the provinces and at the tax centers (COI) and local agencies Tax (ALI) in the metropolitan area, on presentation of one of the following documents :

  • Sale certificate issued by the dealer;
  • Minutes of the peace court of the zone, attesting to the quality of owner of vehicle;
  • Notarized letter of sales recognition, duly signed by the seller;
  • MSDS of the motorcycle accompanied by the sales record and customs documents, if it was imported;
  • Parts loss certificate issued by the PNH, establishing the status of owner of the motorcycle.

In addition, the applicant must submit two recent passport photographs and a valid ID, as follows :

  • Driving license;
  • Passport;
  • National Identification Card (CIN) + tax identification number.

After the allotted time, sanctions, ranging from contravention to the confiscation and sale by auction of the offending vehicle , will be applied against offenders.
