On Wednesday, under the Disadvantaged Neighborhoods Rebuilding Project (PREKAD), coordinated by the Housing Construction and Public Buildings Unit, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Prime Minister Evans Paul, visited the new social housing in Carrefour Péan, in the zone of Sans-Fil (Delmas 18).

This project, of 72 units of 25m2 scalable in Sans Fil, has 22 solar street lights installed, swings and playground for children, water reservoirs with a total capacity of 20.000 gallons and is accessible to disabled people.

"It is with great satisfaction that I am here to hand over the keys to these 72 apartments to the people. This project is a fine example of solidarity among Haitians, which should serve to give our slums another image. You must take care of these apartments, because they are for you [...]" said the Head of State.

For these modern apartments earthquake resistant, comprising bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, supplied with electricity and drinking water, each household will pay 75,500 gourdes per year (± 125 US dollars per month).

The Prime Minister welcomed the determination of President Martelly to serve the country and to combat extreme poverty in all departments. For the Head of Government, the delivery of these keys of 72 modern social housing "translates the pleasure that the Administration Martelly takes to serve each sector with equal dedication."
