Haiti - Elections : Leslie Voltaire, big campaign launch

Last Sunday, the candidate Leslie Voltaire (Ansanm Nou Fò) launched the second phase of his campaign in front of thousands of people. The rally estimated to 40,000 people (by the organizers) was held at Parc Jean-Marie Vincent, in a hot neighborhood, Lower Delmas, near the neighborhoods of La Saline and Cite Soleil. If the number of people is difficult to confirm, there is no doubt that this gathering is among the most important of this campaign.

The Haitian National Police (PNH) and MINUSTAH had made an important safety feature. No significant incidents were reported.

Several continuing candidates (Senators and Deputies) spoke. At the launch, Leslie Voltaire urged his supporters "Haiti can not afford to have weak leadership and incompetent [...] Staying with the status quo is a formula for disaster socio-economic and political instability [...] Driving Haiti is not an amateur work [...] Let us build together the solid foundations that Haiti needs to become a modern state". Indicating that there are two teams on the field, that of continuity [implying Celestin team] and the change [his], igniting the enthusiasm of the crowd.

The candidate Voltaire said that his first priority will be to relocate people living in tents and makeshift shelters since the earthquake. He promises the establishment of an extensive reconstruction program. Describing himself as a President builder who has a well-prepared plan, saying forcefully "I have a vision and a plan to rebuild the country with the collaboration of different sectors of the country, but it will be in the discipline" raising the enthusiasm of thousands of supporters.

Leslie Voltaire proposed massive creation of jobs in construction, agriculture, livestock, tourism and manufacturing in order to fight against the problems of instability and insecurity. Youth are not forgotten in the discourse of the candidate who said that investments will be made particularly in the construction of vocational training centers, cultural and sporting events.

Mr. Voltaire warned [Jude Celestin without naming it] that "if giant posters and large billboards may be purchased, you can not buy with money, consciousness, integrity and honesty of the people," triggering applause from the crowd.
