Haiti - Economy : Strike of public transit failed

Monday morning, the first day of a 48-hour strike launched by National Platform of Unions of Transport Faithful (PNSTF), which includes twenty unions https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15709-haiti-economy-strike-watchword-in-transportation-maintained.html , car drivers were few in the streets of Port-au-Prince and transit less frequent than usual. The activities in schools have been severely disrupted, many schools have not worked, the students were not very visible in the streets, parent having preferred for safety reasons, keep them at home.

The watchword was little or not at all respected in other provincial cities. Transit drivers who worked told to trust the statement made Friday by Prime Minister Paul others simply had to work to support their families https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15695-haiti-flash-government-back-face-the-threats-of-strikes-and-social-disorders.html

A little before noon, unionists have acknowledged the failure of their strike and cancel the strike watchword for Tuesday.

In early afternoon car drivers were much more numerous on the roads and the population gradually resumed his regular activities.
