Haiti - Elections : The CEP wants to meet the candidates of the opposition members of the G8

Following a joint note, from G8 sent to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15665-haiti-elections-8-candidates-call-for-the-creation-of-an-independent-commission.html to request the formation of an independent commission of inquiry to identify cases of fraud and to make recommendations, Pierre-Louis Opont, President of the Electoral Council, proposes a meeting this Monday, November 16 with these candidates protesters.

"In regard to the request made, the Provisional Electoral Council wants to stress to the attention of the signatories of the said notes, than theelectoral disputes procedures are defined in section H of the electoral decree of March 2, 2015 in Articles 175, 176, 176.1, 177, and 178.

Indeed, following the provisions of the decree, a candidate or its representative may challenge the election of another candidate to the office of electoral disputes competent.

However, the Provisional Electoral Council, in order to make available to the signatories of the note the most information possible on this issue would be pleased to meet you Monday, November 16, 2015 at 4:00 pm in the premises of Council [...]"

The G8 whose none of the candidates produced contestation of results with legal authorities of the CEP, remains in the hope that this meeting will pave the way to restore the integrity of the election, which is far to be certain with Opont who simply wishes to put these candidates in the electoral decree...
