Haiti - Security : The Prime Minister deplores and condemns Monday's incidents

In a statement, Prime Minister Evans Paul "regrets that in the ambience of the improvised demonstration at the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) [note HL by supporters of Moïse Jean-Charles ], Monday, November 16, students of the Lycée Pétion-Ville have suffered the effects of tear gas used by the National Police of Haiti (PNH) to restore order following the panic situation having caused great tension.

The Government take advantage of this situation to condemn in the strongest terms all acts and all initiatives which are likely to affect the tranquility and social peace and appealed to civic and patriotic responsibility."

Moreover, the Head of Government expressed his "concerns about the political demonstrations held near the school premises, with no regard for class time and in violation of established procedures for their approval."

He asked the adults involved in political conflicts "to show compassion for the children, our children that we are called to protect, in order to ensure a better over for the country."
