Haiti - Justice : Pierre-Richard Casimir to Peru to participate in the MISPA
The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Pierre-Richard Casimir, left the country Wednesday, November 18, to travel to Lima, Peru, where he participated in the 5th Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA) which takes place on 19 and 20 November, under the aegis of the Organization of American States (OAS).

This international conference is held on the theme of crime prevention, organized crime, violence and insecurity, and is, as its name suggests, the fifth in a series of biennial ministerial meetings which was decided by the General Assembly of the UN. Member states of the hemispheric Organization have therefore agreed to combine their efforts to prevent and combat crime and cross-border organized crime, to curb violence and insecurity both within borders and on the regional level.

The recent terrorist attacks that have been committed in France and Lebanon, which have caused the violent death of dozens of innocent civilians clearly demonstrate the need for all States to work together to achieve the best strategies against crime, violence and insecurity. This is all the more crucial that in the era of globalization and digital technology, the boundaries have become so porous and communication so easy that cross-border crimes are committed more and more frequently.

In the absence of the Minister Casimir, Prime Minister Evans Paul, President of the Superior Council of the National Police, assumed the portfolio of Minister of Justice.

Me Pierre-Richard Casimir will returns home this weekend.
